All Saints Anglican Church will be hiring a student this summer in the role of Community Worker as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program to assist in a number of areas around the church, including with our summer camp, community garden and groundskeeping ministry, and outreach ministry.
Tasks will include:
- Helping to develop and lead a children’s camp
- Assisting with research and as a member of a community task force to assist to make the church space more accessible, welcoming and energy efficient (green).
- Spending time assisting with data entry for our food bank operations.
- Assisting with the development and operations of our community garden which benefits our food bank client members
- Helping with landscaping duties as assigned in the community garden and on the wider church property.
- Some administrative duties
This job will combine both indoor and outdoor labour and will also be a mix of on-site supervised work with remote work from home.
The primary focus at the start of the job placement will be for the planning and implementation of a summer camp for children and then transitioning to working more outdoors with our community garden and foodbank ministry. Some research, administrative and data entry is also part of the job requirements.
Supervision will be done primarily by the incumbent of the parish but mentors will be provided from the clerical team, and key lay leaders in the parish.
Start date: June 13 – August 12th (some flexibility may be provided)
Qualifications Required:
- Passion for working with children and youth
- Education/training or experience in child/youth supervision is an asset
- Exceptional communication skills and teaching skills
- Knowledge of Christian education an asset
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to be a self-starter
- Data entry and research skills
- Dependable and trustworthy
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Willingness to work outdoors for some landscaping work and work within the
- community garden.
Additional Information:
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a Police Reference Check and participate in workplace health and safety training.
- You must be aged between 15 and 30 and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible.
