The All Saints’ Christmas Hamper Ministry has, for over 50 years, worked with partner churches to ensure that low income families in our community are able to share the special blessings of the Christmas season. This year is no exception, and while the Hampers will look a bit different this year, they will still be much appreciated.
As always, we rely on your generous support to bring this Ministry to life. Here’s how you can help:
DONATE CASH OR GIFT CARDS by November 29: We are encouraging cash donations for food. Help provide the funds for our bulk purchase of grocery gift cards. There will be no Christmas Gift Tag Tree this year. Instead of children’s toys and clothing, we will be giving retail gift cards. Whatever you would have spent on Tree Tag merchandise, we ask you to allocate the same amount of money to the purchase of gift cards.
- you can purchase the merchant gift cards yourself and drop them off at the church office (We recommend retail gift card denominations of $25 or $30 each from such retailers as Walmart, Oshawa Centre, Giant Tiger, Babies/Toys’R Us, Amazon.ca)
- you can make cash donations towards the Hamper gift cards by placing your envelope on the collection plate and dropping it off at the church office, or by donating online here.
Whichever donation method you choose, please make sure your donation is clearly marked for the “Christmas Hamper Ministry” and shows your name or envelope #. Donations should be made by November 29.
DONATE SOME WRAPPINGS: Donations of Christmas gift wrap and tags would be appreciated.
SPONSOR A FAMILY: If you would normally be going to a Christmas lunch with a group of colleagues from work or with friends, consider collecting that money and using it to sponsor a family. It costs approx. $200 to sponsor a family of 4.
INVOLVE YOUR CHILDREN: For many families, the Hamper Ministry and Tree Tag Program are a way to talk to children about others who are less fortunate. Ask them if they would like to make a card or draw a picture for a child whose family will be receiving a Hamper, drop it off at the church office and we will include it with the Hamper package.
